My husband Nazim shared something with me this morning that he being a Londoner by birth does often and that is listening to BBC radio. This morning there was an especially interesting item broadcast where the sex of our individual cells is being studied. I thought this is right up my alley so to speak since I often share that we are really the god or goddess of our own internal multi-verse since we have trillions of cells working for us 24/7 but to think that these cells also know what sex they are is also truly fascinating. You can listen to the broadcast here. At this link where you can find information about the scientist as well doing this research with fruit flies.
This broadcast led me to googling the topic a bit and I just read a fascinating article in Nature and also listened to the audio recording which is also included, which you can do as well at this link. There you will be able to listen to Claire Ainsworth discuss the spectrum between male and female.
Gender determination gets more and more complex as science moves forward. This is why I so often share a message from the award winning film that my husband Nazim Artist and I produced entitled, Femme Women Healing the World in which one of many profound insights is shared and that is that it is clearly time to move forward to and embrace an ‘equalitarian’ society where people partner up with the gender of their choice and join their genius rather that their genes. Not that there is anything wrong with continuing the species through a natural vaginal birth however many choose a different path and that needs to be OK as well!
The work of Riane Eisler comes to mind where in her landmark book, The Chalice and the Blade, her message includes that we might just consider that patriarchy could be considered ‘devolution’ because of the wake of devastation to our Mother Earth and all life upon it, as a result of patriarchy’s domination, rule by force, war and destruction paradigm. This is a death sentence to Mother Earth and right now she sits on ‘death row’..it’s much like how a virus kills its host..pretty stupid idea if you ask me. Have we humans devolved into the cancer of this planet? We all need to share in the responsibility of reversing this..since we are the 99% we can have a huge impact when we, for example simply vote with our dollars!
I am (below) sharing a large section of this article I referenced, as I don’t want to risk the reader clicking away and not getting to learn about this amazing discovery and this coupled with the importance of that BBC broadcast I listened to this morning covering the discovery that the cells in our body actually know what sex they are is very exciting! We can start to think of ourselves on the micro level as well as the macro. Astounding as this idea may seem for example, our digestive cells need this sexual orientation knowledge because the female to mention only one consideration, needs a larger digestive system because this is needed to nourish her fetus during pregnancy. In studying this material we can also see that males and females react differently to drugs. Will the future offer male and female prescription versions? It seems we females have more adverse reactions to drugs than males. It’s high time to dispense with the one size fits all medical model in todays standard of care and move to the into the real future of personalized medicine and a holistic model is therefore crucial. Needless to say that won’t make Big Pharma happy but isn’t that too bad!
Again I mentioned here in this post my appearance in Femme, is also important because in this film I share briefly the importance during pregnancy to the fetal tissue that both the mother and father or those close to the pregnant woman, that protecting her from stress, danger and violence is critical to that child’s future as is the downloading of positive messages of love and safety as belief systems which move directly into the fetal tissue as all of the unborn child’s cells are sentient. Bruce Lipton has shared often that when the newborn child is born 50% of its personality is already formed!
A worldwide movement to download a oneness, non violent paradigm as a belief system into fetal tissue , one person at a time, especially by the mother, might just result in the kind of world we would like to be part of in as little possible as two generations. It is also critically important to acknowledge the mother’s partner(s) and families participation here because that person and immediate family needs to express these desires as well. But that is the subject for another time..it’s just awareness I want to share here that there is far more going on in our lives than the Kardashians (LOL)!
We live in a world where sensitivity to stereotypes and political correctness has become a way of life so basically as this article shares, if the law requires that a person is male or female, we might ask the question, “Should that sex be assigned by anatomy, hormones, cells or chromosomes, and what should be done if they clash?” Perhaps as these authors in the materials I reference point out and that is, “since there is not one biological parameter that takes over every other parameter, at the end of the day, gender identity seems to be the most reasonable parameter. In other words, if you want to know whether someone is male or female, it may be best just to ask.”
Here is an excerpt from the Nature article and I have left the numbers for reference in for my readers convenience and further review which can be found at the Nature link:
“As a clinical geneticist, Paul James is accustomed to discussing some of the most delicate issues with his patients. But in early 2010, he found himself having a particularly awkward conversation about sex.
A 46-year-old pregnant woman had visited his clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia to hear the results of an amniocentesis test to screen her baby’s chromosomes for abnormalities. The baby was fine — but follow-up tests had revealed something astonishing about the mother. Her body was built of cells from two individuals, probably from twin embryos that had merged in her own mother’s womb. And there was more. One set of cells carried two X chromosomes, the complement that typically makes a person female; the other had an X and a Y. Halfway through her fifth decade and pregnant with her third child, the woman learned for the first time that a large part of her body was chromosomally male1.
“That’s kind of science-fiction material for someone who just came in for an amniocentesis,” says James.Sex can be much more complicated than it at first seems. According to the simple scenario, the presence or absence of a Y chromosome is what counts: with it, you are male, and without it, you are female. But doctors have long known that some people straddle the boundary — their sex chromosomes say one thing, but their gonads (ovaries or testes) or sexual anatomy say another. Parents of children with these kinds of conditions — known as intersex conditions, or differences or disorders of sex development (DSDs) — often face difficult decisions about whether to bring up their child as a boy or a girl. Some researchers now say that as many as 1 person in 100 has some form of DSD2.”
